Last week was a rough week.  Evan’s behavior took a turn for the worse, and we were reminded of how severe his illness really is.  I have to admit, my motivation sank.  It’s hard to stay motivated when things aren’t going according to plan.

It got me thinking a lot about motivation in general.  I stumbled upon this awesome video that does a great job of literally illustrating what drives us, what motivates us, and how we can increase motivation at work.  Turns out, it’s not all carrots and sticks after all.

Take a few minutes to check out this video based on Daniel Pink’s book, Drive:  The amazing truth about what motivates us.  If you’re having trouble viewing it, click here.

  1. Anne – I’m sorry to hear about Evan’s recent behavior change. I hate those “jolts” that periodically come to unfortunately remind us how bad things can be.

When life is going smoother, you start feeling better, not worrying as much, thinking it’s not all that bad, then WHAM!, inevitably the jolt comes, and the reality just stinks.

However, eventually that stink subsides and things get better again – so hang in there and know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Hey, maybe that’s an idea for a weekly post sometime “WHAM! The Jolt and the Recovery”

    Hugs!
