When I was little, I used to love the “days of the week song” and I even learned the Spanish version in high school.  Now that I’m older (I turned 30….again, yesterday) the days of the week seem to blend together, going in a mad rush from Monday-Friday and then an all too quick Saturday and Sunday that never seem to last long enough…unless you have children, in which case Monday is often a return to sanity.

Last week I was having some dental work done, and I had a brilliant idea.  (I’m not sure if it really is brilliant, or if it was just the nitrous oxide talking), but I’ve come up with a new weekly-to-do calendar that’s more fun and productive than days of the week underwear (although, I have to admit, days of the week underwear are pretty fun).

Introducing my new weekly calendar and to-do list:

Merciful Mondays:  Take it easy on yourself today.  Monday’s are tough, and you’re doing the best you can. Just keep swimming.

Tackle It Tuesday:  Time to roll up your sleeves and get it done.  Tackle those tasks you’ve been dreading and eat that frog!

Wishful Wednesday:  What is one thing you wish for?  Now what’s standing in your way, and what can you do to remove the barrier?

Thankful Thursday:  Practice gratitude.  Take some time to really stop and appreciate all of the things you have to be grateful for.

Flattering Friday:  Make someone’s day by giving them a sincere compliment or spend time with someone that gives you energy.

Sinful Saturday:  Let loose!  Enjoy a cocktail, have a decadent dessert, sleep in, or do all three.  Enjoy!  You’ve earned it.

Saintly Sunday:  Do something nice for someone else, volunteer, or just focus on treating people kindly. (Ideally, this should be an everyday task).

Make it a wonderful week!

  1. I will definitely start doing this. I’m going through a very stressful time right now that this should be easy for me to follow and get back on track. Thank you Anne! You are a awesome!!! 🙂

  2. Nitrous oxide or not, this is great. Sometimes the simplest of ideas are so hard to come up with. I’m glad you did. I’m going to begin implementation today. In fact, I just ‘ate the frog.’ Thanks for the continuing motivation.
