What do you see when you look at this picture?  Do you see a young lady or an old lady?

Saturday night we were getting take out, and while we were waiting for our food an older gentleman said, “Are you young kids going to sit in that chair?”  I said, “I love being called a young kid!” and my husband said, “Cool!  I look like a young 42 year-old!”  The man looked at us, smiled, and said, “Well, it’s all a matter of perspective isn’t it?”

Just a few minuts earlier, on the way to the restaurant, we were just talking about how much we accomplished in 2011.  We brought Evan home from the hospital in January, I launched Acclivity in March, Jay switched jobs, my mom got engaged, we lost our cat, got a puppy, and the list just goes on and on.

It’s hard to believe it’s already time for Thanksgiving and before we know it 2012 will be here.  This is a great time to really put things in perspective.  It’s the time of year when we get to look back, celebrate our accomplishments, re-focus on things we still want to accomplish, and be genuinely thankful for all fo the gifts in our life.

While it’s easy to get caught up in the negative or to complain about all of the things that aren’t quite where we’d like them to be, this is the time to switch your perspective.  For everything you might not be happy about, there’s a flip side.  This week, take a look at your life from a different perspective.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Hello Anne, It has been a hard year for me but I have accomplished some things I have been putting off for years. The difficult times that came aboard gave me the extra push and determination to complete those tasks that now have changed my life for the good. So many changes coming up in 2012 that I am scared of, but I’m sure it will be for the better. I hope Evan is doing better and wish your mom the best on her engagement, and I’m thankful for people like you, who always help others by reminding them that life is beautiful and we should appreciate what we have and learn how to manage our life not only in the workplace, but as a whole. 😀 Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  2. Thanks so much for he posting today, becasue I was blessed yesterday to speak to the youth group at my church. It’s funny seeing them in thier baby stages, they have new love, they still worry about clothing & fitting in, they are still trying to find themselves, & we all remember when we was there. Now we all look back & have a totally different perspective to those times in our lives when we worried about things that really don’t matter now. I remember hearing a message on KEEP THE MAIN THING, THE MAIN THING by Bishop T.D. Jakes….we have to see in a new perspective that Life, & our time in in this life is our most valuable thing. & when it’s gone it’s gone. We can’t rewind time, & once we are gone from this life that’s it….So I’m thankful for every rejection, every disappointment, every struggle & every hard time, it made me stronger. Happy Thanksgiving to all..

  3. Anne, I am thinking about you and your son. Remember: You are the parent (and a very good one). You have known him the longest. You love him the most. And you (and only you!) will be in his life forever.

  4. Anne,

Even though I have heard a lot of your stories before, I never get tired of listening to you. I enjoyed being in your session at the EWTG, as I knew you would give me that same lift I always get from hearing you. You are a very strong and very brave young woman who inspires untold numbers of us who get stuck in a rut, cry about our troubles, and forget to be thankful for the blessings we have in our lives. You are truly an inspiration for us all. I am thankful for you. I don’t know why but I feel a strong connection to you, and I am very happy for your new worklife, husband, and your milestones you have made with your son. I want to share with you something you must have heard many times – “I complained about my shoes until I met a man with no feet.” This is just another perspective. Wishing for you and your family another great year in 2012. Kay

    • You are so sweet, Kay. Thank you so much. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your kind words. It has been an absolutel pleasure getting to know you 🙂 Thanks for continuing to come to my sessions!
